Bellissima Bellaverde in Mallorca (Sligo Food Tours Travel Blog)
Bellaverde is a Nirvana for Vegans, Vegetarians and Flexitarians
On a recent family holiday to Mallorca we discovered Bellaverde in Puerto de Pollensa in the North. With vegans and vegetarians amongst the party we searched for a restaurant online that would cater for all of our needs including children and we were not disappointed! This plant-based oasis is located just two streets back from the main promenade. The outdoor dining space is under centuries-old fig trees which offer a great respite from the summer heat. Surrounded by steakhouses, tapas bars and seafood restaurants, Bellaverde offers Puerto Pollensa’s dining scene a fresh alternative serving vegetarian and vegan dishes made mostly with organic produce, mostly grown on their own estate.
The menu: “We want everything!”
The menu offers a wide variety of starters (Timbale, Beetroot Carpaccio, Fried green peppers), soups with white, red or green gazpacho, supper salads with an outstanding Bellaverde salad (including a coriander ice cream balsamic strawberry dressing), there are five vegetarian burgers with homemade raspberry ketchup, mains include vegetable curries, jackfruit estillo, tomato tart and and filo parcels with smoked potatoes, desserts include Banoffee, chocolate cake and an outstanding Limon merengue, and there are mocktails and cocktails and cool beers.
Bellaverde was established 8 years ago and founder Svenya Gallé is in the kitchen and is proud about offering her vegetarian and vegan cuisine. “I just try to surprise” she says, which is the string that ties all her dishes together with changing seasonal produce reliably delicious. Bellaverde is proof how accessible and enjoyable food without animal products can be.
Here is what we posted on Tripadviser
“We found Bellaverde online and were accommodated for a large group with children (11 people). The outdoor dining space under large fig trees is spectacular and so was the food from starters to desserts. Great flavour and combinations and the Culinary Challenge is a must to try! Great, attentive service and a good atmosphere made for the best dining experience we had in Mallorca. Highly recommended not only for vegans and vegetarians!”
If you’re looking for somewhere tranquil away from the busy restaurants along the seafront, Bellaverde comes highly recommended.
