Dried Apple Rings

Use mature, large, fresh and undamaged apples for dehydrating

1.      Wash, peel (optional) and core the apples or use whole.

2.      Cut the apples into ¼” (0.6cm) to 3/8” (0.3cm) slices or rings; discard any bruised portions

3.      You can soak apple rings in lemon water (4 cups water with ½ cup lemon juice) for ½ hour to prevent discolouration. If you do dry carefully before dehydrating.

4.      Lay out on dehydrator sheet. If you want you can drizzle some honey or/and sprinkle some cinnamon over it.

5.      Dry for one hour at 145°F (63°C), after that switch down to 115°Fn (46°C).

6.      Dehydrate until they are dried and shrivelled, but still tender.

Note: If you don’t have a dehydrator you can bake them in the oven. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and follow the instructions above.

Tip: Children and adults love apple rings as a snack. You can also use them in pies and cookies.

Store in an airtight container they will keep for a couple of month. You can also store them in the fridge or freezer to prolong shelf life.
